The Educators Travel Scholarship Initiative

Travel changes you, and in turn leaves marks on you.

The Educators Travel Scholarship Initiative

Travel and education are at the core of GLOBIO and have been since its inception in 1999. A life-long traveler our founder Gerry Ellis established his career living and traveling in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Over decade later watching children discover African elephants outside of Nairobi, Kenya while traveling and filming there, inspired the creation of GLOBIO and the combination learning while exploring continues in our motivation to connect Species, People, Planet.

The Educators Travel Scholarship Initiative will enable educators with limited resources and access, but a deep desire to travel, learn, and engage with others, to see unique destinations with other international educators, in locations where GLOBIO is working. Our first program will feature travel to Uganda, with a focus on primates and conservation, including treks to see gorillas and chimpanzees.

Are You A Candidate?

The Educators Travel Scholarship Initiative is still in development. A collaboration of non-governmental groups (NGOs) and corporate sponsors are working to identify the criteria. Our goal is to begin taking scholarship applications in late 2019.

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you.”
