GLOBIO's Impact
Local Impact
In Cameroon, our Great Ape Conservation Film Project, developed with Ape Action Africa, is a multi-year initiative using locally informed media to inspire conservation awareness and action. We’ve trained community facilitators, gathered local insights, and begun producing short educational films for schools and outreach programs. In Sierra Leone, our National Animal Campaign works with local educators, artists, and conservation groups to tell stories that reflect community values, challenges, and hopes.
This approach – listening first, creating together -ensures our media is more meaningful and effective. It raises awareness where it matters most, builds pride around local wildlife, and supports lasting change from the inside out.
Global Impact
We believe media can shift perspectives and that stories have the power to travel beyond borders.
Through our digital outreach platforms like Apes Like Us and the Talking Apes podcast, we share science-based, emotional stories with global audiences. Whether it’s a YouTube episode filmed deep in the rainforest or a podcast interview with a leading primatologist, our content educates and inspires people everywhere to care about great apes and the ecosystems they depend on.
To date, our programs have reached hundreds of thousands of viewers and listeners across more than 130 countries. From students and scientists to policy-makers, we are building a growing global community that understands the urgency of primate conservation and wants to be part of the solution
